Shane's portfolio spans California's most demanding construction environments — occupied acute-care hospitals, life-sciences campuses, seismic-grade infrastructure, and high-rise commercial towers in San Francisco.

The work

Over twenty-six years in California construction, Shane G. Curran has served as Inspector of Record and project oversight professional on campuses that define the state's healthcare and infrastructure landscape. The projects listed here represent the range of that work — from occupied acute-care hospital campuses under HCAI regulatory oversight, to one of the most scrutinized infrastructure rebuilds in California history, to a 58-story high-rise in San Francisco's Transbay district. The common thread across every project type is the same: the inspection record is a permanent, legally binding document, and it gets treated that way.

Selected projects

Current · Lead IOR Active

Marin Health Medical Center

Currently serving as Lead Inspector of Record at Marin Health's Greenbrae campus, directing a coordinated team of four to five certified inspectors. Active-care hospital construction in an occupied environment — the most operationally complex context in HCAI-regulated work. Every phase requires inspection coverage that cannot lapse without triggering a regulatory hold.

Healthcare · HCAI

UCSF Medical Campus

Academic medical center construction at one of the nation's leading research hospitals. Multi-phase HCAI-regulated work in a continuously occupied, seismically sensitive campus environment. University medical centers combine the full complexity of healthcare construction regulations with the operational constraints of an active research and patient-care institution.

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (Stanford)

Pediatric critical-care facility construction at Stanford University Medical Center. LPCH's patient population — acutely ill children — makes occupied-campus construction tolerances more demanding than a standard adult acute-care environment. Full HCAI IOR scope with documentation across a campus that remains in continuous active operation throughout construction phases.

Life Sciences

Genentech Campus

Construction inspection on the Genentech South San Francisco campus. Life-sciences construction brings clean-room standards, complex validated MEP systems, and regulatory documentation requirements that exceed typical commercial builds. Genentech's campus expansion involved precision-environment construction alongside occupied research and manufacturing facilities.

Kaiser Permanente — Northern California

HCAI-regulated construction at Kaiser Permanente Oakland and Northern California facilities. Healthcare system construction at scale — multiple facility scopes, coordinated regulatory approval tracks, and the operational constraints of maintaining patient services continuity through active construction on functioning hospital campuses.

High-Rise Commercial

Facebook 181 Fremont + Park Tower

Structural and special inspection on 181 Fremont Street, a 58-story mixed-use tower in San Francisco's Transbay district. High-rise construction in a dense urban environment involves seismic design complexity, curtain wall systems, and core inspection requirements that differ substantially from low-rise and mid-rise work. One of San Francisco's most prominent recent high-rise additions.

Infrastructure

SF-Oakland Bay Bridge

Inspection work on the Bay Bridge seismic retrofit and new east span — one of the largest and most publicly scrutinized infrastructure projects in California history. Structural inspection on a project of this scale and visibility carried a standard of documentation and precision that defined a generation of California infrastructure inspection practice.

Providence Health

HCAI-regulated healthcare construction at Providence Health system facilities in Northern California. Healthcare system construction across multiple campuses brings coordinated IOR documentation management, multi-phase HCAI approval tracks, and the institutional relationships between a health system's capital program and the regulatory agencies governing it.
